I have really enjoyed this set so much. We’ve been using it for a little over a month now and I have put it to use almost daily. C is past the stage of eating pureed baby foods so we have mainly used the range for making snacks and popsicles, which are now my son’s absolute favorite snack in the world. And thanks to this set, that’s perfectly fine because they are made up of 100% pureed fruit!

I first tested the fresh food mill to make “pops” (what my son now calls popsicles). I really had no idea what I was doing since I had never attempted to make my own baby food, but after a quick look-over of the directions I was a baby food-making pro!

But once I learned how to make the food, I really wasn’t sure what to use to make it. We tested several “recipes” and through a little of trial and error came up with some great tasting pops!

The very first batch I made included melon, banana, and 100% pulped orange juice. I cut and peeled my melon and sliced it into chunks that were just small enough to fit into the tube of the food mill. To puree the fruit you simply turn the dial at the top and press down on the bowl of the mill. This allows the fruit to be pushed up through the grate and ‘shredded’ as you turn the dial. Now, I will say that melon is probably not the best candidate for baby food as it basically turns to a pulped liquid when pureed but since we were making frozen popsicles, it turned out just perfect! Though it does takes almost an entire half of a melon just to make 4 small pops. Fortunately melons are pretty cheap; I purchased a large one from the local grocery store for just $.99.

After I had my melon pureed I filled my ‘fill and freeze’ trays up half way with melon and added bits of diced banana to each. I then topped it all off with a tad of orange juice. I know, it sounds like a strange concoction but it was what I had in the house. And to my surprise, C loved them! And so did his dad! Haha. I even tasted them and couldn’t believe how good they turned out! That was only the beginning.

Since our very first batch we have made a variety of combination fruit pops. We’ve used apples, oranges, bananas, watermelon, pineapples and more. The possibilities are really endless with this great set. I would to say that my personal favorite so far has been our orange-pineapple crush pops. Just crush fresh (or canned) pineapples with the ‘mash and serve’ bowl or puree them in the food mill. Fill the trays up half way with the crushed pineapples, top it off with 100% pulped orange juice and pop them in the freezer! It’s as simple as that! (Note that I used pulped orange juice. We tried making a batch with non-pulped juice and it doesn’t seem to have enough substance to it for the popsicle sticks to freeze to so every time we went to pull out a pop half of the popsicle broke off.)

If I have any left-over ingredients after I’ve made my popsicles I just store them in our stackable food pots or go ahead and freeze them as well in our freeze tray. To serve the frozen cubes I just crush them up in a bowl (the mash and serve works great for this) and give them to C to eat with a spoon.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the Infantino Annabel Karmel products, not only has it offered a healthier alternative to store-bought snacks but it’s given my son and I a fun experience that we can share together. He loves to “help”. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, what it consists of, or how hard it is. As long a he feels likes he’s included and contributing he’s as happy as a lark. We’ve had so much fun coming up with different recipes to try out! He always loves the end result and I have the peace of mind knowing that he’s eating a healthy, homemade snack!

As I said before, I don’t know why I didn’t puree fruits and veggies myself when C was a baby. I don’t really have any good reason, I guess I just assumed it was difficult and therefore I never even considered doing it. As humans we tend to fear the unknown. I am so thankfully that I had the chance to test this set. I will definitely be using it to make homemade baby food for my next child! make it easy set Shop with Infantino!!!
