Glow Crazy Distance Doodler Review and Giveaway

Finding a toy that can hold my son’s attention for more than 60 seconds isn’t always easy. If it isn’t reading, coloring, or sports-related then it’s usually not going to interest him for very long…if at all. Not-so-surprisingly though, he was very intrigued by a product we recently tested out – the Glow Crazy.

The Glow Crazy Distance Doodler is a hot new glow-in-the-dark toy that allows kids to write on the wall using light! The toy includes two large reusable glow sheets that cling to your wall, a ‘magic’ light wand (lightwriter), and stencils. Once you attach the glow clings to your wall you can use the light wand to write and draw directly onto them. It’ll even work from a distance of up to ten feet away.

There are two settings on the light wand – a sharp point for writing and drawing and a broad “flashlight-type” point for shadowing. It can be used for free-hand drawing, stencil tracing, making silhouettes, playing tic-tac-toe or other games, and lots more…the possibilities are endless!

Even though my son is a little under the recommended age of 6, he still really enjoyed the Glow Crazy. I’m not exactly sure why the age limit is so high (possibly due to the bright laser-type light) but I made sure to keep an eye on him while he was using it…I trust that the company put that recommendation for a reason. Most of the time he plays with it I am playing with it too so that wasn’t much of an issue. The thing is really fun! We didn’t actually stick the clings to the wall, instead, we laid them flat on the ground and drew on them. C was a little stingy with the light wand but I did manage to get it from him a few times to trace his hands and feet. (He also likes to use the broad setting of the wand as a flashlight.)

I really like the Distance Doodler because you can use it for multiple things – not only can the kids play games and draw but you can use it as learning board to teach younger ones their ABCs and numbers. It’s a crafty little item and I tip my hat to the inventors.

Want one? Well…they’re SOLD OUT on their website until July 15th! Luckily, you can still purchase one through Wal-mart or Toys-R-Us. Retail value is $24.99 but I’ve seen them priced from $19-$25 online. I’d recommend a quick google search to get the best price.
