Spaghetti Hot Dogs – Kid Approved Pinterest Recipe

There’s some ideas you see and you just know they’re from Pinterest. This is one of them. Everyone who has a kid, knows a kid, or wants a kid in the future probably has this recipe pinned. It’s pretty much classic Pinterest. You know you’ve seen it.

Hot dogs with spaghetti noodles COOKED INSIDE. It’s such a simple idea, but I never would have thought of it on it’s own. The first time I saw it, I knew I wanted to make it, but its kind of an odd thing to just make for yourself if you’re a grown woman. (Not that this always stops me!!)

My nephew was visiting this weekend, and he’s a ridiculously picky eater. I’ve rarely seen this child finish a meal, unless it was completely composed of vegetables. (If you’re going to be picky though, only liking veggies is probably the way to go)

Super easy meal prep. Cut hot dogs, insert spaghetti noodles.

I broke the spaghetti noodles in half, to make them more manageable for a 3 year old. I probably could have let him help with this step, but he likely would have wanted to eat the raw hot dogs. Ew.

Crazy yummy spaghetti hot dogs!!

I couldn’t resist swiping a few of these to eat myself. They are definitely a KID food, all the way. Maybe not the most nutritious thing in the world, but sometimes you just need to have a fun “treat” for dinner! And you could always use whole wheat or veggie based pasta with nitrate free or turkey hot dogs to make it a little healthier.

Table manners not required

I cut the hot dogs in smaller pieces after they were cooked, which takes a little bit away from the fun aesthetic, but makes it safer for little ones to consume. He ate the entire plate!! (minus the ones I ate, of course)

Oh those are too cute!! I seen those before but I wasn’t sure if they would turn out! Looks like he had a great time

    • Both ingredients are cheap and the prep and cook time are very short, so definitely worth trying even if they don’t come out well. :-)

When I first saw this recipe, I was thinking spaghetti with hotdogs instead of meatballs. This is much more interesting. I think the kids would really get a kick out if this dish. Sure beats hotdogs and spaghettios.

  4. This is the cutest idea! making today!
