Drinking coffee has been a part of my life for quite awhile. It was our drink of choice at sleepovers in high school (since we were good kids). It kept me warm and awake on my way to classes during the winter in college (I went to school in Maine, so it was pretty much always winter!). It gave me to energy to keep up with my preschool class when I started teaching. I require it to get through the day now that I’m a mother of a young child. Coffee is as vital to me as water and air!
As the importance of coffee in my life has evolved over time, so have the ways I’ve acquired coffee. I’ve never been a big fan of coffee that I’ve brewed at home. It just doesn’t have that same wonderful taste that coffee from a styrofoam cup does to me. But my daily trips through the drive thru are QUITE harsh on my bank account. Danny added up my coffee expenditure once, and it was not pretty. More than some of my monthly bills, and by a large margin.
Because of this, I was delighted at the opportunity to review the Keurig Elite Brewing System. While coffee is important to me, I wouldn’t consider myself a “hardcore” coffee drinker. When Danny drinks coffee, he makes it by the pot, and he will drink that entire pot even if it means reheating it in the microwave throughout the day. Blech. No thank you. I prefer my coffee fresh and hot. Not even prefer. It’s the only way I’ll drink it. And I really only need just the one cup. This makes the Keurig Elite Brewer PERFECT for me.

My favorite thing about the Keurig is just how well it fits into my lifestyle. I give myself very little time to get ready in the morning. It’s just how I’ve always done mornings. I get up, shower, get dressed, wake Garrett up, get him dressed, and we’re pretty much out the door. With the Keurig, as soon as I come downstairs, I grab a K-cup and my travel mug, get it started, and it’s done by the time I have our shoes on. Could be not be easier. The water reservoir holds enough water that I only have to fit it every few days, so there’s very little prep involved. It takes a few seconds to start up, but it’s quick. It’s ready to go before I picked my flavor most of the time. (Have you been to your local grocery store and seen how many K-Cup varieties there are now?? So awesome).
My only issue is the cup size. While it does have three different cup sizes, they’re pretty small for someone used to picking up 16 or 20 ounce coffees every morning. It’s taken some getting used to, but really, who needs that much coffee anyways? I’ve realized pretty quickly too, that the creamer or milk takes up quick a bit of the volume, especially in travel mugs. The largest cup selection and my milk/creamer pretty much fills my favorite travel mug, so it works out fine. My giant mugs I sometimes use at home, not so much. But I’m home, so I can always just brew another!
Another awesome feature of this particular brewing system is the built in water filter. This feature is very appealing to me, since I never drink tap water – always filter it first. However, this rule tends not to apply when I make coffee. (Or ice, which is just as silly.) It’s important to filter that water too! This Keurig does that for you, so you don’t have to worry. (I’ll figure out the ice thing eventually.) Also, all parts that come in contact with water or the K-Cups are BPA free.
The Keurig Elite Brewing System would make a perfect Christmas gift for the coffee drinker in your life. (Or yourself. You deserve cool things too!) This particular system even comes with a 12-count K-cup variety pack, so the recipient can try out some fun flavors right away! Like I said before, there’s SO much different options now. I especially love the brew-over-ice varieties, which includes things like tea, lemonade, and juice. The teas are my favorite, by far. I find that bottled iced teas often taste too sugary, and I enjoy the rich, authentic tea taste that’s hard to come by unless you make it yourself.
The suggested retail price of the Keurig Elite Brewing System is $119.99, which includes a bonus 12 count K-Cup® variety box, water filter handle, and 1 charcoal filter. It’s available at Keurig.com (with free shipping!) and many fine retailers.
Tell me, is the Keurig Elite Brewing System on your Christmas list?
